My Views

I am very grateful to all of my constituents who take the time to share their views and concerns, on a wide variety of issues -  from local to national and international.

As I often receive a large number of emails on the same topic, and there have been times when dealing with high volumes of these has delayed my responses to urgent individual casework issues, I have decided to post here my responses to campaigns or questions on which I have received many emails.

I shall endeavour to post responses as soon as I have had the chance to conduct specific research and consult with Ministers if necessary. In the meantime, I will of course continue to prioritise individual requests for assistance from constituents experiencing difficulties with a Government Department, and to respond to these directly as quickly as I can.

With best wishes
Neil

Dr Neil Hudson MP urges Government to go further in helping Ukrainian Refugees

Monday, 28 February, 2022

It is encouraging  that the Government has been looking to expand the possibilities to help Ukrainian refugees but I am urging the Government to go further and markedly widen the access for people fleeing this awful situation in Ukraine. I have made representations to the Home Secretary on this.

Statement on Ukraine

This is a dark day for Ukraine, Europe and the whole world. The UK stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and will work with our allies in Europe, the US and around the world to support Ukraine against this abhorrent invasion by Russia.

Sue Gray Report update into Parties in Downing Street

Thank you for your e-mail about the Sue Gray Update Report into parties in Downing Street.

Statement on Downing Street Gatherings Investigation

In light of recent reports about Downing Street gatherings in 2020, I would like to outline my position. I have to say that I am appalled and shocked at the reports of further gatherings in May last year that are now coming to light this week.

Statement on Downing Street Reports

I was shocked and upset to see the footage of Downing Street staff making light of lockdown measures. It is vital, if we are to maintain public trust, that Government employees, politicians and officials follow the same rules as the rest of the country.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe (Update)

Thank you for contacting me about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and other British nationals unjustly trapped in Iran. My thoughts are with Nazanin and her family. Like you, I want to see her and indeed all other dual nationals detained, released immediately.

Statement on Standards Vote and Owen Paterson MP

Thank you for your e-mail regarding my recent vote on the House of Commons Committee on Standards and the case of Owen Paterson MP. I understand your strength of feeling on this issue and I will outline the reasoning for my vote below.

Statement from Dr Neil Hudson MP on Sir David Amess MP

Sir David Amess MP was a lovely man who worked so hard to represent his constituents' best interests in his stalwart 38 years as an MP, which have now been tragically cut short in awful circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are very much with his family, friends and staff at this dreadful time.

Statement on the Crisis in the Pig Farming Sector

Social Care National Insurance Rise

Thank you for contacting me on the subject of the national insurance rise to pay for Social Care.

Statement on the proposed West Cumbria Coal Mine

I welcome that the Government has called in this application for review. I had previously signalled my support for the project with my fellow Conservative Cumbrian MPs. However, on reflection I now believe that the project should not go ahead.

Dog Theft

Given my professional background as a veterinary surgeon you will appreciate that this is an issue close to my heart so I very much appreciate your concerns. I will never turn my back on animals and their welfare. Pet theft is a hideous and distressing crime and must be stamped out urgently.

Protecting our uplands

Thank you for contacting me about our upland areas.

I would like to assure you that I am committed to protecting our uplands, the wildlife that thrives there, and the people who live there too.
