I am calling on the two Unitary Councils in Cumbria to work together with Government to support transport for 16+ year olds to access education and training affordably, sustainably and fairly.

During this week's prestigious Prime Minister's Questions session Dr Neil Hudson MP secured a meeting with top Government ministers to expand on local successes and look at rolling out affordable, sustainable and fair transport for 16-18-year-olds accessing education and training. 

Dr Neil Hudson MP brought his campaign to get affordable, sustainable and fair post-16 transport for all to the most prestigious parliamentary platform in the country: Prime Minister's Questions.

After repeatedly calling for fair, affordable and sustainable post-16 transport, Dr Neil Hudson MP for Penrith and The Border, has secured the extension of three travel schemes worth £500,000 to help rural Cumbrian young people reach the next stage of their training.  

MP for Penrith and The Border, Dr Neil Hudson, has pushed Cumbria’s new unitary authorities to continue the progress being made on post-16 transport so local youngsters can achieve their dreams. 

MP for Penrith and The Border, and longstanding campaigner for fair post-16 transport for all, Dr Neil Hudson, paid tribute to Eden District Council for listening to his repeated calls to better support youngsters in rural Cumbria access education and training.  

Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Penrith and The Border, cut the ribbon on the constituency’s newest college bus service, surrounded by the young folk of Alston Moor who are set to benefit from the initiative that Dr Hudson has led the fight to secure.  

The issue of post-16 transport is huge and is a real roadblock for young people. It is really disheartening that those young people who want to pursue courses that will open doors to their future career goals are being boxed into a corner.
