Shadow DEFRA Minister and Member of Parliament for Epping Forest, Dr Neil Hudson MP, recently attended the Essex Young Farmers Show at Boyton Cross near Roxwell, where he engaged with the next generation of agricultural leaders and key stakeholders in the rural sector.
As part of his visit, Dr Hudson took part in productive roundtable discussions with farmers and representatives from leading organisations, including the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and the National Farmers’ Union (NFU). The conversations covered a range of vital issues such as Labour’s Family Farm Tax, food security, biosecurity, and the Government’s controversial recent decision to close the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme to new applicants.
Dr Hudson reaffirmed his strong support for British farming and rural communities, emphasising the importance of championing sustainable agriculture, rural resilience, and future opportunities for young farmers.
Dr Neil Hudson MP for Epping Forest said:
“I am very proud to be an Essex MP, and I was delighted to attend the Young Farmers Show recently and see firsthand the dedication of our Essex farmers, both young and old.
“Events like this are a critical reminder of the challenges currently facing rural communities.
“I remain deeply concerned by the Government’s recent decisions, which risk undermining the stability and future of British farming.
“I will continue to call on the Government to change course and start supporting our farmers.”
