Dr Neil Hudson, Member of Parliament for Epping Forest, recently hosted the School Council from Oaklands School, Loughton, at the Houses of Parliament. The visit, organised by Parliament’s Education Service, included a guided tour of the historic Palace of Westminster and an engaging Q&A session with Dr Hudson.
During the Q&A session, the pupils demonstrated a strong interest in our Parliamentary democracy, asking insightful questions about the election and voting process. They also expressed curiosity about the ongoing repair works in Parliament and were interested to find out more about the iconic building.
In addition to national topics, the students raised important local concerns, such as parking and road safety in their community. Dr Hudson shared updates on his ongoing efforts to address transport issues in Epping Forest. The pupils also showed environmental awareness by asking about the use of electric cars.
Reflecting on his journey into Parliament, Dr Hudson shared stories about his path as a veterinary surgeon to becoming an MP and the responsibilities that come with representing Epping Forest.
Dr Hudson, MP for Epping Forest said:
"It was a pleasure to meet with the School Council from Oaklands School.”
“I really enjoy speaking to young folk to find out issues which matter most to them and I was so impressed by the thoughtful and enthusiastic nature of their questions. The youngsters are a real credit to their families and teachers.”
Mrs Gretchen Copeman, Headmistress at Oaklands School, said:
“The School Council from Oaklands School in Loughton were delighted to meet their MP, Neil Hudson on their visit to the Houses of Parliament.
