Epping Forest Member of Parliament Dr Neil Hudson was recently given the opportunity to visit High Beech C of E Primary School, with a tour around its facilities, hearing from their Head of School Kate Mortimer about the support they provide to its young people, and getting quizzed by pupils from Years 5 and 6 on his work as their MP.
Dr Hudson also had the opportunity to have a one-to-one discussion with Kate Mortimer about the specific needs of the school such as ensuring funding is in place to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Dr Hudson praised the school’s fostering of community and inclusion for all its pupils, and the clear fulfilment pupils were getting from its nurturing environment. He got to see first-hand how inquisitive its young people were during a Q&A session with Year 5 and 6 pupils, facing questions about his role as a Member of Parliament, his work in supporting animal welfare, and challenges facing the environment including fly-tipping and plastic pollution.
Following the visit, Dr Hudson MP for Epping Forest said:
“It was a real delight to visit High Beech C of E Primary School and meet with pupils and staff in this fantastic school. It is clear to see High Beech Primary has a wonderful ethos to support its young people and bring them together, with an environment that fosters community and learning. The Q&A with pupils that we had was a clear sign of just how inquisitive its young people are about the world around them. The pupils are a real credit to their families and school.”
Kate Mortimer, Head of School at High Beech C of E Primary School said:
“The children of High Beech Primary School are always proud and keen to talk about our school to visitors. It was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils in Year Five and Six to ask Neil Hudson some questions and an excellent opportunity for some of our school council members to meet with a real MP.”
