Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Epping Forest, has today written urgently to Post Office Ltd to urge that they work as quickly as possible to provide a continuity of service following the disappointing announcement of the ‘unplanned closure’ of their post office branch at Brook Parade in Chigwell.
The post office will close on 21 July 2026 following the withdrawal of its current retail partner.
In response to this, Dr Hudson has urgently raised his concerns to Post Office Ltd about the potential impact this could have on those who rely on the local service such as older people and those with mobility issues.
He is pushing for Post Office Ltd to work as quickly as possible in its process to find an alternative provider of a post office to provide continuity of vital services in the area, and to ensure that it is within a reachable vicinity of constituents who currently rely on that post office.

“I am deeply concerned about the announcement of the closure of the Post Office in Brook Parade in Chigwell on 21 July 2026.”
“I know it is a vital service for residents in the local area, including the elderly and those who struggle to go longer distances due to mobility issues or other factors.”
“Post Office Ltd have informed me they are advertising for an alternative provider, but I have urged them to ensure they provide continuity of vital services for local residents and businesses who currently rely on the Brook Parade Chigwell Branch.”
