It is encouraging that the Government has been looking to expand the possibilities to help Ukrainian refugees but I am urging the Government to go further and markedly widen the access for people fleeing this awful situation in Ukraine. I have made representations to the Home Secretary on this. I would urge the UK to work with our friends and allies in Europe to offer safe haven for these stricken folk. I urge us to be collaborative, practical and compassionate as we look to offer sanctuary to those who need it, not just those with links to the UK and its citizens. I want the UK to move quickly and compassionately in this and that widening the visa system will be looked at as a matter of priority.
