Dr Neil Hudson, Member of Parliament for Epping Forest, recently attended a special event in Parliament celebrating the importance of grassroots football, held in partnership with the Essex County Football Association.
At the event, the Essex County Football Association delivered a short presentation highlighting the vital role grassroots football plays in supporting local communities and fostering opportunities for young people. Attendees were also invited to view a special display of historical items illustrating the influence of football during the Great War and subsequent conflicts.
An avid football fan, Dr Hudson is a champion of grassroots football. He is a regular supporter of the Buckhurst Hill Stags, watching matches at their ground on Roding Lane and has cheered on Waltham Abbey FC at Capershotts. At Buckhurst Hill’s last home game, he had the honour of presenting the medals to the Under 6s after their half-time penalty shootout.
Commenting, Dr Hudson said:
“Grassroots football is the heart of our communities. It brings people together, supports young people’s development, and promotes health and well-being across all ages.”
“I am proud to champion great local clubs like Buckhurst Hill FC and Waltham Abbey FC. It was an honour to present the medals to the Buckhurst Hill Under 6s after their half-time penalty shootout at their last home game at Roding Lane. Stars of the future!”
