Epping Forest MP, Dr Neil Hudson, recently visited the 3Food4U delivery hub in Waltham Abbey to meet volunteers and learn more about the charity’s vital work in the local community.
3Food4U, a grassroots food bank and community hub, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary and was honoured with the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Operated entirely by volunteers, the charity provides essential groceries and household items to individuals and families in need without the requirement of referrals or assessments.
The organisation runs three hubs across Epping Forest: in Loughton, Chigwell, and Waltham Abbey.
During his visit, Dr Hudson spoke with volunteers and witnessed firsthand the impact of their efforts. He praised the team’s dedication and the inclusive, dignified approach 3Food4U brings to supporting those in need.
Dr Hudson, MP for Epping Forest, said:
"It was a privilege to visit 3Food4U at their Waltham Abbey hub and meet the remarkable volunteers behind this vital service.
“The organisation offers an incredibly welcoming and compassionate environment. Their service is an excellent example of how to care for the most vulnerable in our society with dignity and compassion, whilst being effective.”
Pesh Kapasiawala, Chair of Trustees at 3Food4U, said:
“We were honoured to welcome Dr Neil Hudson MP to 3Food4U recently as we celebrated our 5th anniversary and King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
“His visit was a real morale boost for our volunteers and a recognition of the vital role we play in supporting vulnerable people with dignity and compassion. It means a great deal to have leaders like Dr Hudson who take the time to truly listen and engage with grassroots organisations like ours.”
