This month, Dr Neil Hudson, Epping Forest’s Member of Parliament, was granted the opportunity to visit the recently-opened charity shop in Loughton in support of St Clare Hospice.
The visit involved Dr Hudson receiving a tour of the shop by its staff and hearing directly about the important work of St Clare Hospice in supporting people at the end-of-life, and how the shop will play an important part in supporting that invaluable work.
The shop in Loughton specialises in selling both new and pre-loved goods and uses funds to support the operation of St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood.
Dr Hudson has used his platform in Westminster to champion the need for improved access to palliative care for those at the end of life, and the need for an economic environment that allows hospices and healthcare providers to hire and retain the staff who provide such invaluable services.
Following the visit, Dr Hudson said:
“My huge thanks go out to St Clare Hospice for hosting me at their lovely new shop in Loughton. It was a real privilege to support St Clare Hospice’s new venture right here in Epping Forest, and the clear passion of staff about this opportunity to provide vital support to those needing palliative care.”
“I wish this shop every success and I know our communities will be greatly supportive of the vital care that St Clare Hospice provide to folk from Epping Forest and wider.”
Sarit Ben Lulu, Philanthropy Manager at St Clare’s Hospice added:
“We were delighted to welcome our MP, Dr Hudson, to our Loughton shop and to share more about the vital work St Clare Hospice provides for local people facing life-limiting illness. At a time when hospices across the country are lobbying Parliament for a fairer, more sustainable funding model, it is incredibly important to have the support of our local MP. His visit helps raise awareness of the growing pressures on hospice care and the urgent need for national action so that charities like St Clare can continue to provide compassionate, high-quality care for everyone who needs it, now and in the future.”
