Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Epping Forest, met again today with the Minister for Border Security and Asylum, Alex Norris MP, to press for urgent action on the future of the Bell Hotel.
He requested this further meeting to reiterate the need for the site’s swift closure and to update the Minister on the situation locally and the latest concerns raised by Epping Forest residents.
Dr Hudson has consistently urged the Government to close the Bell Hotel in the interests of community safety and cohesion, raising the issue repeatedly in the House of Commons, including during Prime Minister’s Questions.
He previously met Minister Norris in December 2025 to make clear that closing the Bell Hotel remains a matter of urgency for the safety and security of Epping.

“I am grateful to the Minister for meeting with me again, and for the opportunity to reiterate the concerns of both myself and the Epping Forest community. I made clear once more that the Government must listen and bring the use of the Bell Hotel for asylum accommodation to an end without delay.
“Our community has faced weekly protests and a series of deeply troubling incidents involving the hotel, including the sexual assault of a school‑aged girl. This situation is increasingly volatile and must be resolved urgently to protect community cohesion and public safety.”
