At a Business Breakfast in Loughton this month, leading businesses and organisations from across Epping Forest and the surrounding area got the chance to question their Member of Parliament, Dr Neil Hudson, on the issues affecting them in the current climate and what he is doing in Parliament to support them.
The session, hosted by Haslers Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors at their offices in Loughton, discussed an array of issues, including the Labour Government’s agenda such as its Employment Rights Bill, the tax on independent school fees, the Employers’ National Insurance rise and the Government’s potential approach to its upcoming Budget. Local issues also came to the fore, including the poor performance and upkeep of the Central Line, traffic issues and the Government’s stalled Hospital Rebuilding Programme.
Championing local businesses has been a core focus of Dr Hudson’s work as Member of Parliament for Epping Forest, meeting businesses across Epping Forest and championing their needs in Westminster.
Earlier this month, Dr Hudson challenged the Labour Government over its record and its impact on the hospitality sector, during a Conservative-led debate, including its Jobs Tax making it more challenging for businesses in the constituency to hire and retain staff, which ultimately damages local communities.
He has also challenged the Prime Minister directly over the Jobs Tax, its Family Farm Tax, and its general record since coming to office during Prime Minister’s Questions. You can see more about those interventions at the following links:

Following the business breakfast, Dr Hudson said:
"I am really grateful to Haslers for organising and hosting this Business Breakfast at their offices here in Loughton, and to the local businesses and organisations in attendance for coming together for a stimulating discussion on the local and national issues that matter to them.”
“I hope everyone in attendance found this event a real opportunity to have their voices heard and I look forward to continuing to grow such important connections with local businesses."
At the heart of Epping Forest’s communities are its fantastic businesses, providing the vital services and opportunities on which we all rely. I greatly welcomed this opportunity to hear from businesses about the very real challenges they are facing in the current climate, and to discuss what I am doing to support them.
I will always champion Epping Forest’s businesses and challenge the obstacles that stop them from thriving, be it the Labour Government’s retrograde policy choices or inadequate infrastructure.”
Jon O’Shea, Chairman at Haslers said:
