Dr Neil Hudson, Member of Parliament for Epping Forest, this month visited Hillhouse Church of England Primary School in Waltham Abbey, where he was warmly welcomed by Headteacher Miss Joanne Willcox. Dr Hudson enjoyed a tour of the school and took part in a Q&A session with pupils.
Dr Hudson was particularly impressed by the school’s nurturing atmosphere and its strong focus on pastoral care. During his discussions with Miss Willcox, he explored a range of local education issues, including support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and challenges around parking near the school.
During a lively Q&A with the student leadership team, the pupils asked about Dr Hudson’s role in Parliament. The pupils also raised thoughtful questions about local concerns such as transport links, litter and pollution, fly-tipping, and their future transition to secondary school.
Headteacher at Hillhouse Primary School, Miss Joanne Willcox, said:
“It was a proud day for Hillhouse CE Primary School as our student leadership team hosted Dr Neil Hudson MP, guiding him through the school and sharing what makes our school community so vibrant. The visit was a fantastic exchange of ideas, with our students eager to discuss the local area and their future ambitions.
“We thoroughly enjoyed asking Dr Hudson about his role in Parliament. It was empowering to discuss how we can work together to improve our local community and ensure bright prospects for every child at Hillhouse.”
Epping Forest MP, Dr Neil Hudson, said:
“It was wonderful to visit Hillhouse Primary and spend time with such engaged and thoughtful pupils.
"The school has a real sense of care and community, thanks to the dedication of Miss Willcox and her team. I was especially impressed by how strongly they support every child’s wellbeing. The children are a real credit to their families and school.”
