Member of Parliament for Epping Forest, Dr Neil Hudson, recently visited Loughton Voluntary Care at their hub in Loughton Methodist Church to meet volunteers and hear more about their vital work supporting residents across the community.
Loughton Voluntary Care has been a cornerstone of the IG10 area for more than 50 years. Entirely volunteer‑led, the organisation provides transport for older or less mobile residents to essential medical appointments, including hospital, clinic and GP visits. They also offer good‑neighbour support such as home visits and shopping assistance for housebound clients.
In addition to their transport and support services, Loughton Voluntary Care runs a range of community activities aimed at reducing isolation and promoting wellbeing. These include a weekly Keep Well Club every Wednesday, a monthly Fish and Chip Lunch on the last Saturday of each month, and a Saturday IT clinic to help residents build confidence with technology.
Dr Hudson was delighted to meet the volunteers and expressed his strong support for the invaluable contribution they make to the Loughton community. Ensuring that older people can live with dignity, independence and respect remains one of his key priorities.
