Member of Parliament for Epping Forest, Dr Neil Hudson MP, recently visited Theydon Bois Primary School, where he was welcomed by headteacher Mr Andre Rall for a tour of the school and a conversation with some of the pupils.
During the visit, Dr Hudson praised the school’s impressive facilities, which include a unique outdoor swimming pool, and heard firsthand about the outstanding work of the Parent Teacher Association in supporting the school community.
Just a few days later, Dr Hudson returned to Theydon Bois Primary School to join pupils, staff, families and the local community for their special VE Day celebrations, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe. VE Day holds a special place in Epping Forest’s history, as Sir Winston Churchill was the MP for Epping from 1924-1945 and led the country through World War II before representing the neighbouring seat of Woodford until 1964. To mark this significant milestone, Dr Hudson also attended commemorative events across the Epping Forest District, including in Loughton, Waltham Abbey, and North Weald.
Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Epping Forest, said:
“It was a pleasure to meet the dedicated staff and enthusiastic pupils at Theydon Bois Primary School, and to see folk come together for VE Day.
“My sincere thanks go to the school, the Parish Council, the PTA, and all the volunteers for their hard work and commitment in making this commemoration so special. And a huge thank you also to everyone across Epping Forest for all their efforts organising and celebrating VE Day in this hugely significant 80th Anniversary.”
Mr Andre Rall, Headteacher at Theydon Bois Primary School, said:
“Theydon Bois Primary School was delighted to welcome our Local Member of Parliament, Dr Neil Hudson, to our school.
“His sincere and in-depth interest in our school, what we are proud of and challenges that we face showed a real commitment to support Epping Forest schools.
“He spoke with some of our children about our school, their learning and experiences on a daily basis. They really enjoyed the opportunity to talk to Neil and share their ideas as well as peppering him with questions.”
