I voted in full support of the UK Internal Market Bill in the House of Commons this week. It is a very important Bill that will protect the integrity of the Union that is the United Kingdom and ensure the preservation of the peace in Northern Ireland. The Bill will make sure that there are no barriers to trade within the United Kingdom. It will mean more powers for all parts of the UK and ensure businesses can continue to trade across our country as they do now, avoiding new burdens and barriers. It will therefore allow us to protect jobs, and is essential to supporting our recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic. In Cumbria, as a border region it is so important that we have free and frictionless trade with Scotland and the rest of the UK.
