In Prime Minister’s Questions today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated that he would ‘have a proper conversation’ regarding Newton Rigg College directly with Dr Neil Hudson MP and the Secretary of State for Education.
As part of the first virtual ‘The Time Is Now’ mass lobby, constituents from all around Penrith and The Border came together with Dr Neil Hudson MP, to discuss climate issues in the constituency, the UK and globally.
I am pleased that Cumbria County Council have come together with stakeholders and agreed a practical and safe solution for re-opening some of the Penrith roads especially with regard to emergency access.
A Strategic Review of Newton Rigg College is to be carried out from July 2020 by the Further Education Commissioner as a direct result of the Save Newton Rigg campaign led by Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Penrith and The Border.
The Government has announced tourism and visitor attractions will reopen in England from 4 July.
Up to 585 businesses in Penrith and the Border will benefit, following local MP’s support for reopening.
Dr Neil Hudson MP for Penrith and The Border this week in Education Questions in the House Commons highlighted the uncertainty facing Newton Rigg College in Penrith and called for support for his campaign to secure a viable future for this vital educational institution.
